Amidst the festival season, every bright color enhances the beauty and enthusiasm of celebration. For the same reason, colorful makeup makes you easily blend into this wave of happiness and festivity. Usually, I do not wear bold colors but in this season I make sure to be a part of this colorful gala time by wearing appropriate colors. Keeping that in view, I bought Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick in shade forever plum. Read on to know my experience with this product.
My Take on ‘Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick Forever Plum’
Maybelline colorsensational lipsticks come in a metallic red case with a silver rim at the center. There are 16 shades to choose from, so you easily pick a shade of your choice. The bottom of the lipstick bears the shade name on a color coded sticker. Though the color coding is a close match to the actual shade yet I still recommend trying out the lipstick before buying it as the texture plays an important role in defining the finish and appearance. For the packaging, the material looks slight flimsy so be careful while you thrust it in a bag full of goodies.
It is a pure plum shade with some hint of blue undertone. In my opinion, this is the kind of lipstick that won’t suit all skin tones. It can make your complexion look dark so choose your base makeup wisely when you plan to wear this lipstick. Otherwise, this is a beautiful shade for plum lovers. If you prefer wine/plum lipsticks you will like this shade.
As far as the pigmentation is concerned, one swipe gives you a nice plum shade but if you want to have a deep plum look swipe it 2-3 times as that deepens the plum shade and intensifies the overall look. It is a build-able shade, so with more swipes the coverage also increases, becoming consistent after 3 rounds. Plus, it also contains SPF 15 that protects the lips against UV rays.
Being a moisture rich lipstick, it has glossy finish. I personally feel, if this would have had a matte finish the shade would have been more appealing. Nevertheless, matte fans can reduce the sheen by using the tissue paper technique. The ouctome is not exactly matte but I still find it fine as compared to the entire glossy look.
It does not feel heavy rather feather light on lips. The soft and creamy formula makes it glide smoothly covering every nook and cranny. It has moisture rich formula that keeps the lips hydrated and moisturized without requiring any lip balm application underneath. For the formulation, it does not settle into fine lines, and neither does it bleed from the corners.
Staying power is average- it stays on for 2-3 hours including intermittent meals. If you want to wear it for long duration you would need to reapply it. Personally, I do not mind reapplying lipsticks as long as the shade is good. Or else, you can mattify it first and then layer it up to increase the longevity on your lips.

Final Word: Formulated to keep the lips hydrated and moisturized, Maybelline colorsensational moisture extreme lipstick is a nice option for dry lips. Plum lovers would love this shade, but still try it out before you purchase as this won’t suit all complexions. Considering the price, this is a decent option to diversity the lipstick collection.
