Revlon Lip Liner Pencil in Plumwine Review, Swatch
Lipstick is the most essential part of face makeup. A subtle difference in application or shade selection can change the entire look. Also, I do not think anybody likes to have a feathered out lipstick as it gives a bad untidy impression. When lip liners were not so popular girls had to be on their toes to wipe off the feathering but now after the advent of lip liners all these fears are drained out.
Applying a lip liner is an easy job that not only keeps the lipstick within the defined boundary but also helps in shaping up crooked lips. All you need to do is choose a lip liner as close to the shade of your lipstick and outline the lips. I have seen girls wearing contrasting lip liners but personally I do not prefer going with contrasting colors. But if you like contrasts then you can go for them. My recent lip liner purchase is from Revlon’s classic lip liner range in plumwine – sounds catchy B-).
This one is a classic Revlon lip liner pencil; the shade name says plumwine but I do not find this shade even close to either plums or wines ;-). I would call it a soft red shade with a black tinge to it. Moreover, this is a buildable shade that goes from coral red to dark wine. I prefer keeping it low to coral red tone as it looks more sober and does not require a special occasion to wear. This shade can be easily paired up with casual attires. I wear it alone or underneath a lipstick or underneath a lip gloss. The coverage is from medium to high so it can be used on pigmented lips as well.
This lip liner has a soft creamy texture that works well while outlining the lips but it gets little bumpy while filling in entire lip area. To overcome the bumpy ride I always moisturize my lips before using a lip shade. That ways it goes on smoothly, and does not even dry them out. For me, the longevity tendency is up to 4-5 hours (with meals). But if unlike me you do not have a habit of chewing your lips then it should a stay a lot longer than 4 hours 😉
The best part I like about Revlon lip liner pencil is that it does not bleed or feathers out. My lipstick or lip gloss stays intact within the defined boundaries. Also, when I use this lip liner to fill in entire lips it makes the lipstick stay longer. And, when the lipstick fades away this lip liner still provides an even-pink tone to the lips.
This is not a roll on lip liner so needs sharpening, whenever the edge gets thick, for perfect lip outlining. The good thing is that unlike other pencil lip liners this does not waste much product in sharpening. The lip liner cap is made up of sturdy plastic and has a good grip over the pencil liner. Keeping this in mind one can easily toss it in a bag full of makeup essentials without worrying about any wear and tear.
