Revlon Nail Enamel Polish in Shade Cherry Berry 421 Review Swatch

September 29, 2014 / 22 Comments / Shailja Vashisht

Hi Everyone,

Probably, you all know my love for nail polishes by now. Even the most similar looking shades appear different to me, and I wish to add every single one of them in my nail polish stack. I have even gone through the craziest times when I used to spend days searching for a particular blue shade or probably an orange shade, which I had spotted on some celebrity’s nails. Now, I am a little less crazy but yes I never seem to have enough of nail polishes :yahoo: .

Usually, I do not have particular preferences for nail polish brands but there are some brands that have won my heart for their texture, durability, finish and diversity of shades. Revlon is one among those brands, the shades and finish of Revlon nail polishes are one of the best in drugstore nail-polish class. The recent nail polish that I have bought from Revlon is in shade cherry berry 421.

My Take on ‘Revlon Nail Enamel Polish in Shade Cherry Berry 421’

Revlon nail polishes still come in their classic packaging, which has transparent bottle depicting the shade of the nail polish and a black screwed cap containing the brush. These bottles are sturdy, so sturdy that they were still fine when I happened to have dropped them on the floor a couple of times. I do not think any modern-day nail polish packaging would have survived that fall.

I am totally in love with this cherry berry shade. It is a bright pink shade with blue undertone, and it looks lively on my nails. The finish is creamy and glossy without any grittiness. After a single coat this nail polish gives an almost opaque look with very little nail bed showing through. Whenever, I am in a hurry and I want the nail paint to dry out quickly I just get away with one coat. But when I have ample time in hand, I apply 2 coats to get the proper cherry berry shade.

The brush is not that much thick. I have wide and long nails so for me it requires 3 strokes to cover whole nail bed. It fans perfectly without causing any streakiness or messiness around nail edges. I prefer to shake the bottle well before every stroke; doing so gives fine finish and helps the brush fan smoothly.

The consistency of this nail polish is not that thin so I am worried that it will dry out very soon. On application, the first coat dries up quickly but the subsequent coats take longer to dry. The more the numbers of coats the more time you will have to sit idle in order to not to mess up the wet nail paint.

As far as the longevity is concerned, one coat does not stay on for long. Amidst household chores I do not see it stay unbroken for even one long day, 2 coats can survive for a day or two but without glossiness. In case, you do not have to get involved in water errands this nail polish can last even longer than 3 days.

For me, the nail paint shades depict mood as well. Whenever I am happy or enthusiastic or proactive I wear bold and bright shades. When I feel calm or settled I tend to go with neutral and soothing nail color. Cherry berry is a cue that I am happy and up to something :dancydancy:

Final Word: Cherry berry shade speaks of confidence, happiness and life. A perfect shade for those who prefer going bold, and a must have in your bridal vanity box. The finish is quite decent but I do not like the consistency that much. Overall, I love this nail polish for its beautiful berry pink shade and glossy finish.
