How To Reduce Open Pores Using Home Remedies!
It is often said that people who have oily skin can enjoy their youth for slightly longer than those who have normal or dry skins. Oily skin has the tendency to defer fine lines and wrinkles. If you are proud owner of oily skin I am sure you have must witnessed this fact yourself. If not yet then wait till you hit 30s but still have your mid-20s look.
But just like every other materialistic thing, oily skin has its cons. It is prone to bacterial growth that ultimately leads to pimple and acne. In the last few months, I have been hit by unwelcomed zits a number of times but gladly now I know how to deal with them. Extreme shine is another con of oily skin but I think it is also the easiest to deal with. Just wipe off the excess oil with a facial tissue (I always prefer dry tissues) or use a matte compressed powder on top of your makeup (read moisturizer if you do not apply makeup). The third problem that comes with oily skin is enlarged open pores; because of the excessive oil production by sebum glands the pore size gets considerably increased. So far, I have not found a permanent solution to this problem but I have plenty of temporary ones that give short term relief from prominent open pores.
As the name says, in this post I will share my ways of reducing open pores using home remedies.
Wrap some ice cubes in a cotton cloth and rub them on clean face, focusing on open pores, for good 15-20 minutes. You can do so while watching your favorite television soap. Ice cubes are a lot beneficial for oily skin. They do not only shrink pore size but also absorb excess oil, giving a matte look that can sustain for long. You can also use this technique to enhance the longevity of makeup.
Tomatoes follow the same usage method as that of ice cubes except you do not need to wrap them in a cotton cloth. Take a huge tomato slice and rub it on open pores for 15 minutes. This fruit/vegetable does not only help in reducing open pores but also in fading away pimple/acne scars. If you have old chickenpox scars you may see a reduction in their size if you following this routine consistently.
This is my favorite ingredient, and I use it often in summers for a refreshing skin. All you need to do is make a thick paste of fuller’s earth with water (or rose water or lemon juice), apply it on your face for 10 minutes and rinse off using plain water. Fuller’s earth absorbs extra oil from your skin giving it a fresh matte appearance and clear complexion. As it absorbs the excess oil, it helps in unclogging the pores and eventually pore reduction. You can follow this link for details of my fuller’s earth face pack.
Another ingredient that helps in dealing with the problem of open pores is curd (yoghurt). It has lactic acid which tightens the skin thus reducing the pore size. It also absorbs excessive oil in the pores and removes dead cells thereby giving clear matte look. Apply a layer of thick curd on your face for 20 minutes, afterwards rinse off with tepid water.
Papaya is another wonder fruit that helps pores to unclog and shrink. Either you can directly rub it on face or make a paste and let it stay on for 20-25 minutes. It instantly gives your skin a healthy and youthful flow.
In order to increase the efficacy of these natural remedies it is recommended not to use soap or cleanser on face for 2 to 3 hours. However, you can apply your usual moisturizer for extra hydration and suppleness.
