Revlon colorburst matte balms come in 10 exquisite shades, namely: complex, elusive, sultry, shameless, mischievous, audacious, showy, standout, striking, unapologetic. Wow, the Revlon creative team has really come up with nice catchy names. Is it like you can choose a lip color that closely matches with your mood?. 🙂 Nevertheless, these lip balms look so tempting that I had hard time figuring out which one I should really go for. Finally, after I tried all the swatches, gave my brain some calculative task and took my husband’s opinion (I know you can depend on hubby’s choice while purchasing makeup but at least he adds weightage to your decision :P), I settled for this sultry shade.
What the product says:
Vibrant colors infused with a Triple Butter Complex give you a bold, beautiful lip. It’s a burst of matte color with a balm-like feel. Go bold and get moisturized in 10 crave-able, collectible shades
I already have a Revlon colorburst rosy n*de lipstick, which I think resembles a lot to the Revlon colorburst matte balm sultry shade. So even after doing that much of drudgery, I made an ambivalent decision for the sultry shade. The first thing that I did after reaching home was to compare these two shades, and to my relief they are indeed different. Rosy N*de has a brown base and sultry has a pink base. So things got sorted at the end, and I was finally happy and contended with my purchase.
Now coming to the packaging, these colorburst matte balms come in the similar setup as that of a roll on lip pencil or kajal with a twist up design. This design makes the lip balm easy to use, and provides precision when it comes to defining lips. I love the sharp and smooth tip of the bullet that does not require any sharpening. The only thing that you have to keep in mind to retain the sharp tip is to use it in such a way that it never loses the pointed angle. That being said you should use the tip only to define the lips, do not fill in the lips using the tip instead use the tangent surface for filling purpose. That ways you will never loose hold of the tip and always have well outlined lips.
The matte balm’s outer packaging depicts the true color of the lip balm, making it convenient to choose the shade. Sultry shade is a beautiful pink shade with red undertone. I totally love this color as it brightens up my face not looking too loud or bold. Even though this is a bright shade yet because of the subdued matte effect I can easily wear it to office. For parties also, this shade would do amazingly well. If you are not a big fan of matte lip shades then you can dab some gloss on top of this, and it will never fail to give you a vibrant look.
This matte balm has brilliant pigmentation. In just one swipe it gives me the color of the tube, and in 2 swipes it adds more intensity to that shade without going uneven. It is a buildable shade that would definitely work great on pigmented lips.
I am highly impressed with the ease it glides on to my lips. Just because of this ease I can apply this lip balm daily and never get bored of it. It has a creamy texture that feels very light and non-sticky. Unlike other lipsticks that make my lips dry, Revlon colorburst matte balm keeps my lips moisturized for almost all day long. The moment it comes in contact with my lips I feel a cooling sensation and sense peppermint fragrance as that of a chewing gum. The fragrance though fades in a few seconds, even before I am done with the application. I am ok with that as I would not like to roam around with chewable lips. :P.
Talking about the longevity, it stays on my lips for 6-7 hours – almost intact even when I have meal in between. Every time I wear this balm I never feel the need of going for touch ups as even when it fades it does so evenly. It does leave stain on cups but meagerly in comparison to other lipsticks. I wish there were no straining at all. But the good thing is that the matte formulation of Revlon colorburst balms always make them stay inside the boundaries i.e. they do not bleed or feather out.
