Readers Query-How To Get Rid Of Lip Pigmentation?
Several times, I have heard people seeking resolution for dark lips. Though it is a problem yet in case of girls this can be easily concealed using lipsticks that have excellent pigmentation. But the problem can be tough to deal with if you do not wear lip colors. Actually, dark skin on the upper lip is caused by excess melanin in the skin. Sometimes, the appearance of this dark pigmentation can be easily treated by using prescribed (by dermatologist) skin lightening creams. However, you can also try these homemade remedies to treat this problem the natural way.
Exfoliate your lips: Use a lip scrub three or four times per week to exfoliate the skin above your lip. You can use a store-bought product, or make your own scrub using sugar or salt. Check out this cane sugar lip scrub from Forest Essentials. While brushing teeth, you can also gently rub your wet brush on lips. This will not only take care of pigmentation but will also get rid of the dead skin.
Apply lip balm: After exfoliation apply a good moisturizing lip balm or milk cream. For day time use, you should go for an SPF infused lip balm. This will not only keep your lips moisturized and hydrated but will protect them from sun as well.
Homemade lip packs: Gram flour pack is fairly common when it comes to lightening skin tone, so while you apply it on face slather some of it on lips. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes before washing off with plain water. Here is the recipe, I bet you know it already but what you did not know was you can apply it on lips too.
1 spoon gram flour
1 pinch organic turmeric
Some lemon juice
Few drops of honey
Mix all the ingredients to make a paste. Let the concoction settle for 5 minutes before applying it on lips and face. In addition to this pack, you can also apply some lemon juice once in a while on your lips to remove pigmentation. Lemon is a natural bleaching agent so it can help in getting rid of the dark lip color.
Drink loads of water: Dehydration can be another cause of lip pigmentation. So make sure that you drink at least 3-4 liters of water a day. You should also include some fresh juices to your diet in order to restore the required melanin level.
Stop chewing your lips: Some people have a habit of chewing lips that can cause the skin to become dark and dull. If you drink too less water you might be licking your lips if not cheweing which is equally bad for lip skin. If you can get rid of these habits you can surely get rid of pigmentation.
Stay away from caffeine and smoking: Drinking too much coffee or black tea can cause lip staining, making the lips look darker than their natural color. You can either switch to other organic drinks such as green tea, fruit juices or use a straw to drink coffee/tea. Secondly, nicotine in the smoke stains your lips, leaving them dark and dull. Not only that, smoking also lowers the amount of oxygenated blood that reaches your face, which can make your lips look pale and thin. So the sooner you quit smoking the sooner you will be getting natural pink lips.
All these tips/remedies are easy to follow. You just need to make a disciplined routine in order to follow them and get benefit from them.
