Reader’s Query: How To Remove Tanning From Hands?

Ankita has to attend her first cousin’s marriage next month; she is all excited about her dresses, makeup, footwear, and an eventful get together with entire family. Amidst this gleeful enthusiasm she has got a petty worry, which she needs us to address. Her immediate concern is hand tanning. She writes to us: “Because of the frequent shopping sprees my hands got badly tanned. I have chosen a sleeveless lehanga for the wedding so I want my hands to look fair and beautiful“.

So, Ankita has asked us to help her in removing the sun tan in the stipulated short timeframe. Usually, when I get sun tan, I indulge in exfoliation, homemade anti- tan packs and natural bleaching agents. I prefer to stay away from chemical infused products, sticking as close to the herbal ones as possible. Here are few tips that I normally try to get rid of sun tan.

5 Natural beauty benefits of lemon juice

Exfoliation: Exfoliation not only helps in removing dead skin cells but also in unclogging pores. When the pores get clear, blood circulation gets better and so is the skin tone. Take a good anti-tan scrub, and gently exfoliate the affected area. After exfoliation apply gram flour pack (remedy shared below) on the sun tanned area. Do this exfoliation thing twice a week followed by the pack, ensure that you are gentle with the skin otherwise if you are harsh to the skin that can cause soreness.

Lemon: Ordinarily, people tend to use chemical bleaching powders to cure sun tan. But personally, I feel that chemicals spoil our skin’s tendency to bounce back from natural recuperation. Momentarily, they might be super-fast in show casing the results but they damage the skin in the long run. My magical natural ingredient for sun tanning is lemon. Lemon is called a natural bleaching agent, and works well in removing sun tan. All you have to do is rub lemon juice on the affected area and leave it on for 10 minutes. Wash off with regular water and pat dry. If your skin is dry then you can mix lemon juice with a spoon of organic honey. Repeat this every other day or on alternate days, and you will see the difference.

Gram flour anti-tan pack: Depending upon the sun tanned area take equal quantities of gram flour, yoghurt and lemon juice. Stir the mixture to make a smooth paste. Keep it in the refrigerator for a while and then apply it on tanned areas. After 20-25 minutes, when the pack gets dried, wash off with normal tap water. Whenever I get sun tan, I apply this pack almost daily.

Papaya: Papaya is also a great skin booster. Like me, if you do not want to do that much drudgery then you should definitely use papaya. All you need to do is keep some papaya cubes aside whenever you devour one. Relax, sit in front of your TV set and keep rubbing those papaya cubes on sun tanned area till you watch your favorite soap :nailfile: . Afterwards wash off with regular water.

If you know any other remedies that work on removing sun tanning then please share with us, your tips can widen Ankita’s smile on her cousin’s wedding day.
